Cheery Tween Room

This is a room for dreams! It's designed for an 11-year-old bookworm with a big imagination and big feelings.

We laid the room out in zones, creating kind of a studio apartment that will grow with her through her teen years. Zone 1: R&R, with a cheerful yellow Jenny Lind bed and cozy reading corner. Zone 2: Think, with a desk and chalkboard wall. Zone 3: Dream, with two shelf towers and a glowing mirror with feather pendant light.

Storage and display space were also key for a girl who is more imaginative than tidy. We contained the chaos with repetitive storage: wall bins instead of a dresser (easy to stuff & wad), book towers instead of a bookcase (easy organization because you can only stack so many books per shelf), and wood wall cubes over the desk (easy to display treasures & trinkets in a way that won't make mom cringe at the clutter).
