Down to Earth, Up for Fun

Down to earth, up for fun. That perfectly sums up both our client and her design. And she’s got a great story!

She’s an animal lover and business owner, and purchased her condo new in 2006. After she bought the wholesale jewelry company she’d worked for for 23 years and turned a failing business into a profitable one, she knew what she wanted to do to reward herself: turn her house in to the home she’d always wanted!

We started with desert tones for a welcome as warm as our client. We swapped hand-me-downs with pieces that spoke to her, layering a range of warm, natural materials to modern, clean lines, along with new lighting fixtures. We did some minor rearranging with layout to create defined zones, so now the living room is a show-stopper with a gallery wall that stretches to the ceiling, layered over a terracotta arch mural to create the feeling of architecture. We also created a remembrance wall with shelves for memories of pets and loved ones, and decor and antiques she’s collected.

We made the whole open-plan space feel larger by butting the dining table on the wall, and lowering the kitchen pony wall for a more welcoming counter-height bar. Tall shelves create extra storage flanking the dining space, and another arch mural to repeat the soft lines and colors in the living room. A new countertop, backsplash, and cabinet hardware gave the kitchen the refresh it needed.

Now our client’s home actually deserves her. It went from making her feel ho-hum, to happy and delighted—just like home should!
