Laid-back Ranch

For an active young family who loves travel and adventure, feeling bland and boring at home wasn't cutting it! We elevated their Arts and Crafts style house to a home that's inviting, comfortable, and colorful.

In the living room, we created a soft foundation with a room-sized rug, then layered in a comfy leather sofa and retro-inspired chairs. We amped up the fun with the nook next to the fireplace; it went from a storage dead space to an unexpected reading nook with playful jackrabbit wallpaper. Paintings by local artist, Jamie McCormick, pay homage to the family's love of the outdoors.

The breakfast nook got a contemporary facelift with a bar cart, table, chairs, dining bench, and pendant light. A funky mirror and art by local artist, Joel Ganucheau, bring the walls to life.

But the real show stopper is the primary bedroom. Navy board and batten completely redefined the room into a space with a comfortable elegance. All new furnishings—including his and hers reading corners—transformed this into a suite that's designed for contentment and relaxation.

Without a designer, and Amy in particular, there’s no way I would have been able to create the bedroom I’ve been dreaming of having. Her creativity, perspective, insight and knowledge are so valuable in helping you create a design plan that ends up being exactly what I often feel I can’t fully articulate until she puts it all together.

Now this energetic family has a home base where they can rest, refuel, connect, and dream up their next adventure.
