Zilker Cottage
When M and I met, she was on a journey of healing and self-realization, and she wanted her 1940s cottage to reflect that. M wanted joy. She wanted fun. She wanted color! We were more than happy to oblige. We layered her rooms with vibrant textiles, graphic wall finishes, and playful furniture.
The living room sets the tone for the whole home—a playful welcome from an energetic young family. We upped the fun factor with a hanging rattan chair, whimsical rattan day bed, and leggy glass + metal entry credenza with bohemian art and accessories. Leafy teal wallpaper is a super hot transition into the dining area and kitchen.
In the family room, a floating ash media cabinet adds custom storage, a red oak bar creates an extra place to belly up to the bar, and an encaustic cement tile column adds balance and serious eye candy. It’s the perfect room for dance parties and snuggling on the sofa.
Speaking of eye candy, THE STAIRWAY to Heaven! We took the stairwell from drab and gray to bold and fantastic with a black half-wall paint application, unforgettable hot pink carpet, woven pendant light, and cheeky wall decal phrase.
Not only has her home become part of her healing journey, M has since launched a coaching business, and now helps others heal in her colorful kaleidoscope of a home!
